We Don't Just Record the Numbers.
We Help You Understand Them.
Bookkeeping, payroll, AP/AR, and controller-level oversight for growing Texas businesses. Sophisticated enough to handle complexity. Human enough to answer the phone.
Most Businesses Don't Have a Bookkeeping Problem. They Have a Visibility Problem.
The transactions are usually getting recorded. What's missing is the ability to look at the result and know what to do — which job to chase, whether you can afford the hire, what next month's cash actually looks like.
The books are behind, or you don't trust them
Months of uncategorized activity, or reconciled numbers that still don't feel right. Either way you stop looking, and once you stop looking the gap widens.
Reports arrive but don't drive anything
A P&L lands every month and gets filed. It doesn't answer which work made money, so it doesn't change what you do next.
The setup stopped fitting the business
What worked at six employees or one entity doesn't hold at twenty-five or four. Complexity arrived faster than the systems did.
Most bookkeepers record problems. The useful ones find them first.
Everything below can be bought on its own or as part of a full back office. We'll tell you honestly which one fits — including when the answer is the smaller one.
Two Ways to Work With Us
A choice of shape, not size. Either one is scoped against your actual volume and complexity, and priced before anything begins.
Your Back Office
The whole department at one flat monthly price, handled by one team. Nothing itemized, nothing billed hourly, nothing scoped so narrowly that the useful part costs extra.
- Weekly bookkeeping, monthly reconciliation and close
- Payroll processing and HR compliance support
- Accounts payable, check runs, vendor management
- Invoicing, receivables, and collections follow-up
- Controller-level review — somebody checking the work, not just doing it
- Monthly reporting, and a conversation about it
- Year-end package prepared and handed to your CPA
I'm ready to hand the whole financial operation to one team.
One Service at a Time
Weekly bookkeeping as the foundation, plus the one service solving whatever is costing you most right now. Nothing bundled in that you didn't ask for.
- Bookkeeping + payroll — when headcount is growing
- Bookkeeping + AP/AR — when cash comes in slower than it should
- Bookkeeping + reporting — when the decisions got bigger
- Cleanup first, then ongoing bookkeeping — when you're behind
One thing is broken and the rest of it works.
Either way, the price is known before we start. Quoted against real transaction volume, entity count, payroll complexity, and the condition of the current books — not a number pulled off a rate card. Cleanup, where it's needed, is quoted separately as one-time work with a defined end, because folding it into a monthly fee charges you for it forever.
Six Things That Keep a Business's Numbers Trustworthy
All six are included in a full back office. Any one can be bought on its own, alongside weekly bookkeeping.
Weekly Bookkeeping
The foundation everything else sits onTransactions coded and job costs allocated every week, reconciled and closed every month. Weekly matters more than it sounds: a month-old error is a correction, but a week-old error is still a decision you can act on. See bookkeeping.
Payroll & HR Compliance
Including certified payrollProcessing, tax filing support, onboarding and offboarding, multi-state registration, and HR compliance assistance. Certified payroll for commercial construction, including LCPtracker and CCIP portals. See payroll services.
AP/AR & Cash Flow
Money out on terms, money in on timeWeekly check runs, vendor management, invoicing, and receivables watched by age rather than by total — including the collections calls most bookkeepers won't make. See AP and AR operations.
Catch-Up & Cleanup
Months behind, or yearsA diagnostic review first, a fixed price second, then books that finally tie out. Quoted separately from ongoing work, with a defined end. No lectures about how it got that way. See cleanup bookkeeping.
Advanced Reporting
The numbers you actually decide onKPI dashboards in Reach Reporting, job and segment profitability, budget versus actual, and construction WIP schedules. Cash flow forecasting for businesses above roughly $2M in annual revenue. See reporting and advisory.
Controller Review & Advisory
Somebody checking the workController-level oversight — owning the close, reviewing the balance sheet, catching what the ledger records but hides. Plus a standing monthly or quarterly session on budgets, growth models, and lender conversations. Advisory only; not CPA, tax, or attest services. See controller oversight.
One more thing we do that most bookkeeping firms don't: we handle general liability and workers' compensation premium audits — assembling the records, tracking subcontractor certificates of insurance through the year, and answering the auditor. Every year since 2021, several a year. Details on insurance audit support.
Who Has Access to Your Financial Data?
Whoever keeps your books touches bank feeds, payroll, tax documents, and employee records. It's worth two minutes of diligence — on us, and on anyone else you're considering.
Insurance we carry
Professional Liability / E&O
— covers errors in the work itself.
Cyber Liability
— covers a data incident, which is the risk people forget to ask about.
General Liability.
How documents move
Through Canopy, a SOC 2–compliant client portal with encrypted file transfer. No documents move over email — that's a rule, not a preference.
To be precise: the SOC 2 attestation is Canopy's, as the platform provider. We are not ourselves SOC 2 audited, and neither is any bookkeeping firm our size that's being straight with you.
Who touches your books
A named team rather than one person, with written data-handling processes rather than habits. Access doesn't leave with whoever answered your last email.
Ask anyone you're considering the same questions: Do you carry E&O? Do you carry cyber liability specifically? How do I send you a document with my bank details on it — and if the answer is email, what happens when that inbox is breached? Who besides you has access, and what happens if you're unavailable for a month? We won't tell you what other firms carry, because we don't know. We'd just rather you ask. There's a printable version in our financial data checklist.

Bookkeeping & Financial Services — Answered
What bookkeeping services does BBS offer?
Weekly bookkeeping, payroll and HR compliance, accounts payable and receivable, catch-up and cleanup, advanced reporting, and controller-level review with advisory. Any one can be bought on its own, or all of them together as a full back office.
We work with businesses across the Hill Country and the San Antonio metro, with particular depth in construction, the trades, and medical and dental practices.
What's the difference between a bookkeeper and a CPA?
A bookkeeper handles the day-to-day record: categorizing transactions, reconciling accounts, running payroll, closing the month. A CPA is a licensed professional who prepares and signs tax returns and performs audit and attest work.
Bulverde Business Solutions is not a CPA firm. We provide bookkeeping and financial operations services only — no tax preparation, no tax opinions, no audit or attest engagements. We keep your books closed, reconciled, and reviewed so your CPA receives something they can work from, which usually reduces what they charge for year-end cleanup.
Do you handle payroll for small businesses in San Antonio or the Hill Country?
Yes — full payroll processing, tax filing support, and HR administration for small and mid-sized businesses across San Antonio, Bulverde, Spring Branch, Boerne, and New Braunfels. Certified payroll and prevailing-wage reporting where the work calls for it.
Details on payroll services.
Can you help if my books are months or years behind?
Yes, and it's more common than you'd think. Months of uncategorized transactions or years of unreconciled activity both get the same treatment: a diagnostic first so we can tell you honestly how deep it goes, then a fixed price with a defined end.
More on cleanup bookkeeping.
How does BBS keep my financial data secure?
All client documents move through Canopy — a SOC 2–compliant portal with encrypted file transfer. No documents move over email. The SOC 2 attestation belongs to Canopy as the platform provider; we are not ourselves SOC 2 audited.
We carry Professional Liability (E&O), Cyber Liability, and General Liability insurance. Worth asking anyone you're considering the same question — the answers vary more than most owners expect.
Do you handle insurance audits?
Yes. General liability and workers' compensation premium audits, every year we've been in business since 2021, several a year. We assemble and reconcile the records, produce the subcontractor certificate of insurance file, and answer the auditor's questions.
We are not an insurance agency or agent and do not advise on coverage or represent clients in premium disputes. Details on insurance audit support.
Are you QuickBooks certified?
Yes — Intuit QuickBooks ProAdvisor Elite, the highest tier, and a Knowify Certified Advisor for construction job costing. We work in QuickBooks Online daily and can set it up or restructure one that grew by accident.
Do you provide advanced financial reporting?
KPI dashboards in Reach Reporting, job and segment profitability, budget versus actual, and WIP schedules for construction. Cash flow forecasting for businesses above roughly $2M in annual revenue.
More on reporting and advisory.
What does it cost?
One flat monthly price, quoted after we've looked at transaction volume, entity count, payroll complexity, and the condition of the current books. No hourly billing, and calls and questions aren't metered.
A number quoted before that would be a guess, and guesses get revised upward.
Do you work with businesses outside of Texas?
Yes. Everything runs through secure cloud systems and an encrypted portal, so location isn't a constraint. Most of our clients are within an hour of Bulverde, but that's proximity, not a requirement.
How do I get started?
A strategy call. We'll ask what's actually going on, tell you honestly whether a full back office or a single service fits, and scope it before quoting anything. If we're not the right answer, we'll say so on the call.
Beyond Bookkeeping. Built for Growth.
Start a strategy call. Tell us what's wrong — or what's missing — and we'll tell you how we'd fix it. If a full back office isn't the right answer, we'll say that too.
